| DOGSTAR TO OPEN MASSIVE CONNECTICUT STUDIO |  |   | | STRATFORD, CT - An investor group, headed by Allen Christopher, has
announced plans to purchase a former manufacturing plant and turn it
into a motion picture and television production studio. The
292,000-square-foot facility is located on approximately 18 acres of
land in Stratford on Lordship Boulevard.
| | (12/1/2009) | | | The studio will be called Dogstar (www.dogstardmg.com), named after the brightest star in the sky, and will offer 12 soundstages, 22,000 square feet of office space, 100,000 square feet for support services, an educational component. The soundstages will range in size from 2,500 square feet to 16,800 square feet.
Doug McAward, former chairman of the Connecticut Film and Television Commission and veteran producer, will serve as Dogstar’s general manager.
"Dogstar Studios is perfectly positioned to become the premiere facility for the digital media and motion picture industry here in Connecticut," says McAward. “Over the next few months, we will be making numerous announcements regarding our anchor tenants, our key executives and various projects that will be produced here in 2010."
Tax credits offered by Connecticut played a major role in bringing this deal together, and in the next few years, it’s estimated that thousands of new jobs will be created.
