IVC DIGITAL FILM CENTER EMPLOYS DATA-CENTRIC WORKFLOW

LOS ANGELES - IVC Digital Film Center (www.point360.com) has expanded its 2K/4K film scanning, remastering, and archival services with the addition of a new Spirit 4K DataCine and Bones solution from Germany’s DFT Digital Film Technology. The purchase allows the studio to offer a data-centric workflow to clients seeking scanning, DI, digital cinema or restoration services.
(6/11/2009)
Spirit can scan 4K material up to 7.5fps and 2K up to 25fps. The unit provides 16-bit RGB internal processing and 4K Infiniband Data output. In addition, Spirit offers built-in 4K primary color correction, safe continuous motion capstan film transport, and a realtime scaling engine for 4K to 2K conversions. The scanner leverages the Kodak Advanced Imaging Subsystem with customized precision optics for 16mm and 35mm film.

The Spirit 4K DataCine at IVC uses the Bones software to transfer film material into a digital file format for color grading and other DI processes. The Bones Data Transfer and Mover software modules manage the data transfer, delivery and archiving.
