POSTWORKS LA TAKES DATA-CENTRIC APPROACH

HOLLYWOOD - Manhattan's PostWorks (www.pwny.com) has launched a Los Angeles-based post operation designed from the ground up to leverage data-centric and future-looking technology. PostWorks Los Angeles will provide high-end digital imaging services to theatrical, broadcast and studio library mastering customers.
(10/3/2007)

Mike Doggett will serve as president of PostWorks Los Angeles. He is an equity partner in PostWorks and also helms Orbit West, the West Coast operation of offline rental and support company Orbit Digital. Doggett most recently served as president of US post for Technicolor's Content Services business unit. He is joined at the new studio by Al Cleland, senior VP/GM of PostWorks Los Angeles and Orbit West; Marco Bario, senior VP of PostWorks Los Angeles; Greg Ciaccio, VP, technical operations, PostWorks Los Angeles; and Jennifer Tellefsen, VP, broadcast services, PostWorks Los Angeles.

The new LA location in the Tribeca West complex will initially offer broadcast finishing services and the talents of senior colorist Pankaj Bajpai (Rome, Carnivāle, Sex and the City). The facility is already providing finishing services for The Unit, which is produced by 20th Century Fox Television for CBS, and In Treatment, which is produced by HBO. Future expansion at Tribeca West is planned, and will include theatrical DI color correction along with additional broadcast finishing environments. As part of the West LA expansion, Orbit Digital will offer on-site digitally interconnected editorial suites and offline systems.

Next year, PostWorks LA expects to unveil a major new facility in Santa Clarita, CA, where it will offer film scanning and recording, color correction, digital conforming and digital restoration. A massive data backbone, along with proprietary storage developments and virtual session management will allow projects to seamlessly move between the West LA and Santa Clarita locations.
