ROLAND BROWN JOINS QUANTEL'S BOARD

NEWBURY, UK - Quantel has appointed Roland Brown, recently director of engineering at The Moving Picture Company, as a non-executive director to the company. He will help Quantel identify and harness emerging technologies that influence content creation.
(1/21/2008)
Brown offer four decades worth of experience, having worked on the cutting edge of broadcast and post production technology for companies such as Intertel VTR Services, Lion Television, Video RSA South Africa and then MPC. Along the way he’s been involved in many milestones, including the first satellite transmission from the UK, work on Queen’s music video for Bohemian Rhapsody, and taking MPC into HD production and a data-centric future.

“We are at another tipping point for the industry,” says Brown, “one where tools will become natural to the user and the technology will fade into the background where it belongs. We used to have to all be engineers to make film and television, but it’s the craft skills - and empowering those skills - that will dominate the next phase of development in the industry.”
