From engineering and design to manufacturing, operations and sales, virtual reality in the enterprise is reshaping business as we know it. On the leading edge of this change is the Nvidia VRWorks software development kit. It's a suite of application programming interfaces, libraries and engines that makes it easy for developers to create amazing VR experiences.

To help companies integrate VR across their businesses, professional application developers like Autodesk®, ESI Group and OPTIS are integrating key features of Nvidia VRWorks into their applications.

VRWorks technologies such as VR SLI, Single Pass Stereo and Lens Matched Shading help them improve the performance, efficiency and image quality of VR rendering. And VRWorks 360 Video, Audio and PhysX bring realistic sound, touch and physical simulations to their VR environments.

Plus, VRWorks includes a suite of features exclusive to the Quadro platform, including Warp and Blend, Synchronization, GPU Affinity and GPUDirect for Video. Combining professional VR applications with NVIDIA Quadro VR-Ready GPUs provides unparalleled performance in VR experiences.

Collaborative, Immersive Design Reviews with VRWorks

Boeing, Safran-group, Caterpillar, Ford Motor Company and Bombardier are just some of the global corporations using ESI Group's VR solution IC.IDO.

Using VRWorks' rendering features, IC.IDO can recreate complex engineering datasets in VR. This facilitates the decision-making process of globally dispersed, interdisciplinary teams by replacing physical prototypes with immersive and interactive digital models.

"Through our collaboration with Nvidia and integration of the VRWorks SDK, we've delivered tremendous value to our customers who rely on our products for more effective global collaboration and a faster production design process," says Peter Larsson, director of Product Management at ESI Group, which plans to release IC.IDO 11.1 at the GPU Technology Conference this week.

Autodesk uses VRWorks' VR SLI and Single Pass Stereo in its VR solutions to help designers to feel the 3D presence of their product or model, see it at scale and identify early opportunities for iterative improvement, saving time and money.

Design firms use Autodesk's automotive design visualization software, VRED, for creating virtual prototypes and reviewing designs in VR. Autodesk's Stingray rendering engine delivers real-time design visualizations and interactive VR experiences.

"With Nvidia VRWorks, we were able to take advantage of the latest technology and performance enhancements in VR with the process to integrate scalable link interface rendering and Ansel integrations for Autodesk Stingray," says Frank Delise, senior director of Interactive Experiences at Autodesk.

VRWorks Brings Reality to VR

By incorporating VR into its design process and virtually experiencing the many variants of shapes and materials and on-board technologies, Bentley Motors has been able to further perfect its cars and improve safety and quality for its customers.

The realism provided by OPTIS' VR solutions was key. OPTIS has worked extensively with Nvidia to integrate PhysX for haptic feedback and VRWorks Audio to deliver greater perceived realism within 3D models.

"Seeing and experiencing a dataset or model in an accurate and authentic virtual space empowers those involved to contribute and make decisions where and when it matters," says Jacques Delacour, CEO and founder of OPTIS. "With PhysX and Audio, we perfectly immerse designers into the virtual world so they can feel their future products."
