CBS DIGITAL RESTORING 'I LOVE LUCY'
July 2, 2003
LOS ANGELES - CBS Digital has been selected by Paramount Home Entertainment to provide restoration support on 180 episodes of "I Love Lucy." The series celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2001 and is currently being remastered for eventual DVD release.

CBS Digital was initially using a Teranex system and Discreet's Inferno to restore footage from the series, working at 1080/24p resolution. Recently, the studio opted to switch to MTI Film's Correct digital mastering system to handle the restoration services. The Correct system takes a different approach than simply painting out scratches and defects. It uses a series of filters that allow the operator to draw a box or lasso around a defect, which then disappears.

CBS represents the first broadcast client for MTI Film (www.mtifilm.com).
