PIONEER UNVEILS PROFESSIONAL DVD RECORDER

LAS VEGAS - Pioneer Electronics (www.pioneer-usa.com) showed the PRV-LX1, a professional DVD-video recorder, at NAB.

Ideal for archiving, corporate video authoring, duplication and digital dailies, the modular DVD recorder offers realtime recording, the ability to customize DVD menus and add chapter points. Video and audio content can be recorded from multiple sources direct to DVD and/or the internal hard drive. There is also 32 different compression settings allowing the user to balance quality and record time.

The PRV-LX1 is equipped with standard DVD-R/RW recordable drive and 120 GB internal hard drives. An optional second disc drive can be installed allowing simultaneous recording of two discs at once. Video I/Os include component video, composite, S-video and DV. Audio I/Os include two channel balanced XLR, two channels unbalanced RCA and coaxial digital audio output for playback through an external Dolby encoder. Other connections include a RS-422A interface, Ethernet, VGA output, USB2, external sync and a headphone jack. Pioneer will offer the option of adding a SDI/AES EBU I/O board set in the fourth quarter of 2003.

The base system retails for $3,995 and the second disc drive is an additional $495.
