FILMCORE OPENS NYC OFFICE

NEW YORK - Commercial editing company FilmCore, with offices in Santa Monica and San Francisco, has opened a new office in New York City. The company has hired Andrew Linsk, former senior producer at New York ad agency Euro RSCG Worldwide, to head the office as executive producer.

It will initially operate out of temporary facilities at Post Factory in Soho with editors from its offices in California. FilmCore expects to establish a permanent site by early next year and staff it with two or three editors to be based in New York.

"FilmCore has strong relationships with many New York agencies. This move enables us to better serve them, and to form new relationships with other agencies and clients on the East Coast," says FilmCore San Francisco executive producer Jon Ettinger, who is spearheading the effort with Linsk.

Linsk held his position at Euro RSCG for six years during which he produced for Volvo, Microsoft, Intel and other accounts. Among his recent credits was a short-form Internet film for Volvo, introducing the V50 to European buyers. Directed by Stephen Frears, the film starred actor Robert Downey Jr. Linsk produced the project out of the agency's office in Amsterdam, MVBMS.

Linsk says that he expects FilmCore New York to remain small and retain a boutique environment. "My goal for the company is simple: I want us to be the shop that is doing the most interesting and creative work in New York," he says.

A native of Philadelphia, Linsk attended film school in Florida before beginning his career with the post house Varitel Video in San Francisco. In 1990, he and producer/director Robert Caruso launched Commotion Pictures. The company gained success in producing music videos for such bands as Green Day, Public Enemy and Soundgarden. The company also helped to launch the careers of such directors as Dante Ariola, Sean Mullens, Mark Kohr and Gerald Casale. In 1998, when Caruso left to join ILM, Linsk shuttered Commotion to join Euro RSCG.
