FLICKERLAB DESIGNS OPEN AND GRAPHICS FOR BRAVO'S 'THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU'

NEW YORK - FlickerLab recently completed work on the graphics, bumper and quirky animated open for Bravo's new reality show, "Things I Hate About You." The studio drew its inspiration for the look of the open from '60s and '70s sitcoms such as "I Dream of Jeannie" and "Bewitched," using paper-doll characters over colorful backgrounds to set the tone for the program, which centers around a different couple each week.

Creative director Harold Moss and the FlickerLab team modernized the fun animated style, incorporating digital stills for the faces of the characters. FlickerLab staffers and friends are used throughout the open, and in one sequence, Moss himself can be seen in bed, snoring loudly. The bathtub and scale sequences features two characters, whose heads will change to reflect that week's featured couple.

FlickerLab used dual-processor Mac G5s to execute the project. Software included Macromedia Flash and Adobe's After Effects and Photoshop programs. The studio also used Wacom tablets in creating the project. Wall to Wall in New York is the show's production company. It debuts July 20th.
