MARLBORO, MA - Optibase's Media 100 (www.media100.com) unit has hired nonlinear editing pioneer and long-time Avid product designer Steve Bayes as director of product marketing. Bayes brings with him extensive real world editing experience, as well as a background in designing editing and effects systems.

In his new role, he will oversee and roll out products that include Media 100's 10-bit HD and SD editing system, new versions of the company's 844/X realtime editing/compositing solution, and future products for the Mac and PC.

Bayes spent eight years with Avid Technology where he was product designer for the company's Media Composer, Symphony and DS Nitris systems. He also trained hundreds of editors as one of Avid's first certified training instructors and the author of "The Avid Handbook."
