SEA LEVEL HELPS CREATE 'MICHAEL VICK EXPERIENCE' FOR NIKE
September 28, 2004
VENICE, CA - Sea Level (www.sealevelvenice.com) recently provided visual effects for a new Nike spot out of Wieden + Kennedy/Portland that shows viewers what might happen if an NFL star served as the inspiration for the latest amusement park ride. The :60 "Michael Vick Experience" is a roller coaster ride that takes football enthusiasts onto the field where they use Vick's elusive moves and speed to dodge 300lb. lineman as they make their way to the end zone.

Sea Level visual effects supervisor/lead Inferno artist Ben Gibbs supervised the six-day shoot, which was produced by LA's Smith and Jones under the direction of Ulf Johansonn.

The post house assembled a team of focused artists to do a complicated series of 2D and 3D composites, while a team of Discreet Combustion artists did 3D tracking, created background plates and handled painstakingly-detailed matte extractions.

The Whitehouse's Russell Icke edited the project, with Laurence Thrush assisting. Jais Thierry Lamaire at Bobine Video in Santa Monica handled color correction.

Ren Klyce and Malcolm Fife of CA's Mit Out Sound provided sound design, and Jeff Payne and Francine Boucher of Eleven in Santa Monica handled the mix.

The project took four-and-a-half weeks to complete.
