AUTODESK'S 'WHAT IS REAL' TOUR HITS THE ROAD

The software maker recently introduced 3DS Max 8. The updated 3D application delivers advanced character tools along with new scripting and asset management features that help accelerate 3D content creation and drive pipeline efficiency.

The eight-city North American tour will kick off on September 13th in Toronto and will run through early October. Other cities on the "What is Real" tour include: New York, Detroit, Miami, San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle.

Stops will be highlighted by guest speakers from throughout the film, games and design visualization industries. Presenters will demonstrate how they use Autodesk Media & Entertainment solutions. To date, guest speakers at select tour stops include representatives from The Orphanage (visual effects), Spine3D (design visualization) and Volition Games.

Partners and sponsors for the tour include Hewlett Packard, Intel Corporation, Nvidia and PNY Technologies.

In related news, Autodesk recently visited seven cities throughout Asia as part of its "Stay in the Game" tour. Gaming visionaries Dr. Michael E. Capps from Epic Games and Mr. Diarmid Clarke from BioWare were guest speakers on the tour, and explained how Autodesk solutions are efficiently meeting today's complex game development challenges. The tour hit Shanghai, Beijing, Seoul, Taipei, Mumbai, Singapore and Brisbane, Australia throughout the month of August.
