SIGGRAPH: WONDERTOUCH SHOWING PARTICLEILLUSION 3.0 FOR OS X, HINTS AT AE PLUG-IN

LOS ANGELES - St. Louis, MO's Wondertouch (www.wondertouch.com), the developer of software for creating high performance particle effects, is now shipping ParticleIllusion 3.0 for Mac OS X, a mirror release of its 3.0 Windows product.

With an introductory price of $349, ParticleIllusion 3.0 for Mac OS X affords digital content creation pros working on Apple's operating system all the advantages that Windows users have already been enjoying, including access to ParticleIllusion's library of more than 1,300 preset particle emitters. Effects include smoke, fire, explosions, water effects, sparkles, along with an assortment of colorful effects that can be used in an artistic manor.

The Asylum in Los Angeles was a beta tester of ParticleIllusion 3.0 for Mac OS X, having started with ParticleIllusion SE, the introductory version of the software on Mac OS X earlier this year.

The studio work on films and trailers, and has put ParticleIllusion to use on "War of the Worlds," "Legion of the Dead," "Frankenstein," and "The Beast of Bray Road."

Jack Tunnicliffe, a VFX artist at Java Post Production in Canada has also served as a beta tester of Version 3 for the Mac and has used it on graphics effects for the enormous Jumbotron video presentation at Taylor Field in Saskatchewan.

Highlights of ParticleIllusion 3.0 for Mac OS X include super emitters, which allow for the automatic creation of emitters, and forces, which allow for the influencing of particles after they are created. The release also includes dozens of interface and productivity improvements over ParticleIllusion SE.

After August 31, the price will be $399.

The company has plans to release "pIllusion AE" later this summer as a plug-in for Adobe's After Effects.
