HQ PRODUCTIONS CONTINUES WORK FOR Z100
September 26, 2006

Since the shoot took place during the week of the MTV Video Music Awards, HQ Productions had to maximize their limited time with each recording artist. According to HQ CEO Mitchell Stuart, the production team set up a greenscreen set at a recording studio and shot each artist three times in HD. The long, medium and close-up footage provided editor Alex Dolginko with complete freedom and flexibility to achieve the vibe they were looking for.

Footage was shot at 1080/24p using a Sony HDWF900/3 HDCAM camera equipped with a set of Zeiss DigiPrime lenses. It was then imported to a PowerMac G5 set up with an AJA Kona 2, AJA Kbox and Sony JH-3 deck. Footage was then transcoded from 1080psf 23.98 HDCAM to 23.98fps DV for the offline portion of the edit.  For the online portion, the same setup was used with the addition of a 1.1TB Medea Huge RAID. Content was handled at full resolution (1080psf 23.98 HDCAM).

All compositing was performed using Final Cut 5. The audio mix was done working off of an OMF file.
