MPA SEMINARS REVEAL COMPOSERS' SECRETS

Two seminars will make up the Fall Workshop Series.  Hans Ten Broeke (Super Size Me, Frontline) will lead “Audio Post Production” on October 28th and Paul Special will lead a course in modern DAW techniques on December 2nd’s “In the Box” workshop. The seminars take advantage of technological resources at the studio and pull from MPA’s diverse network of seasoned composers, producers, music supervisors and sound designers for instruction.

MPA hosted its first seminar,  “On Film Scoring,” back in September. The six-hour workshop was led by MPA member/composer Rick Baitz (The Irreversible Year, The Vagina Monologues) and looked at 12-tone music, a-tonal music, and polytonality.

Attendees were given the opportunity to create their own scores to cues from The Irreversible Year and The Vagina Monologues. Their creations were later mixed and mastered at the MPA studios to be returned to students with a professional polish that can be used in their portfolios.
