Alliance Digital is a rental resource for Avid and Apple
nonlinear editing systems, but not for broadcast production equipment. Bexel
rents broadcast production equipment, but does not offer Avids. Sharing
resources, says Bexel GM Tom Dickinson, will allow the two companies to be
better positioned to serve existing customers as well as grow and expand their respective
businesses.
Alliance Digital is the rental division of Virtual Media
Communications (www.virtualmediaonline.com), based in New York. Bexel (www.bexel.com) is a division of The Vitec
Group, a UK-based broadcast manufacturer and service provider. Shortly after
the two companies entered into this agreement two major broadcasters agreed to
rent integrated Avid/EVS systems for use in their coverage of NBA All-Star
Weekend.
