DIGIDESIGN SHIPS C|24 AND PRO TOOLS V.7.4

Digidesign says its proprietary Ethernet-based communication protocol offers better control than similarly-priced surfaces that employ the HUI protocol.

The C|24 also integrates a full-featured analog front-end with 16 low-noise mic/line/DI preamps, each with high-pass filters, plus a 5.1 surround monitor system with inputs and outputs that can be trimmed. An 8x2 stereo submixer is routable directly to the monitor system, and a built-in talkback microphone is included, along with inputs for remote talkback and listenback mics.

The 24 bankable control strips feature touch-sensitive, motorized 100mm faders and dedicated, LED-illuminated switches for mute, solo, select, input, record arm, EQ, dynamics, insert, send, and automation functions. Twenty four rotary encoders with LED rings are also implemented, as is a bright, easily readable, dual-row LED scribble strip display.

The C|24 has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $9,995.

Digidesign is also shipping Version 7.4 Pro Tools software for Mac and Windows systems. The release was previewed at the AES show in New York and includes the new Elastic Time function that allows users to change the tempo and timing of loops, music, dialogue, and other sound files in realtime without cutting up audio tracks.

The software also provides improved networking compatibility with Avid Unity ISIS shared storage systems and new support for HD video workflows.
