HUMAN CREATES SOUNDTRACK FOR 'SOS' PSA

Human composer/partner Morgan Visconti created a score, which uses a Morse code-styled distress signal to raise awareness. Rather than using tones or beeps, Visconti called on humans to create the sounds through singing, tapping and dancing.

Sound design brings additional environmental textures, including the whoosh of wind, and the rumble of thunder. The effects suggest a pending climatic catastrophe.

Visconti's initial tracks were very busy, but by using just strings and a children's choir, he was able to streamline the Morse-code idea. Budgen and Visconti recorded the string quartet and the Walter Reade Children's Choir at The Record Plant in LA before shooting commenced. Some of the piece was actually written, rehearsed and put together on set.

SOS was shot at Universal Studios and at a parking lot in downtown Los Angeles. Sound design was created by Human's Mike Jurasits.

Angus Wall of Rock Paper Scissors in LA cut the PSA. Company 3 also contributed.
