Formerly senior technical director at Digital Dimension,
Gates brings with him broad experience in feature films, television and other
media. He was on staff at the facility for three years and worked in varying
capacities on more than a dozen films. Some of his recent credit include Talladega
Nights, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Blade: Trinity
and Norbit.
Gates began his career as a special effects make-up artist.
He eventually formed his own company and worked on film and television
productions for Disney, among others. In the mid 1990s he switched to digital
effects and joined the broadcast design firm Rezn8 in 2001. His background also
includes an earlier stint at Encore Hollywood as a visual effects artist.
