NYC'S CHOMET MOVES INTO NEW SPACE

The edit suites are connected to 10TB of storage.

Chomet also has graphics capabilities and recently partnered with Matlin Recording to offer a fully-equipped Digidesign Pro Tools mixing suite that is networked to all the Avid suites for a seamless workflow. Sound designer/mixer Allan Gus operates the in-house audio suite, which can provide voiceover and ADR recording along with sound design and mixing services.

According to Michael Chomet, founder and president of the 25-year-old facility, planning for the move began back in November 2006 after noticing that the company needed significantly bigger space to accommodate its growing business and creative staff. He contracted New York architect Gary Metzger of Metzger & Metzger to create a collaboration-friendly space filled with light. Chomet also employed the services of Yates & Parks Engineering to handle the wiring and systems integration.

Client amenities in the new location include a conference room, laptops in each suite, a comfortable kitchen, and an intimate cluster of tables and chairs in the common area and on the roof-top deck.
