OUTLAW SOUND HOSTS PENELOPE CRUZ

The APT's WorldNet Milano rack unit was used to connect with Serena Digital (www.serena.tv) in Madrid. WorldNet Milano uses apt-X, a realtime digital audio data reduction system that compresses audio samples by a factor of 4:1 with no perceivable audio degradation and negligible coding delay.

Digidesign Pro Tools was the sync master in Hollywood, while Serena Digital's system was slaved and offset for recording and approval by ad executives in Madrid.

Cruz was overdubbing in Spanish to picture that was originally recorded in French. Producers and execs in Madrid were able to watch picture as she performed her lines to picture in Hollywood.

Outlaw Sound captured her performance using a Sennheiser MKH 416 microphone through a custom-built mic pre-amp within its MCI JH-618 console. Senior engineer Frankie D. Harrison oversaw all technical aspects of the session. Roberta Griego engineered the session for Outlaw Sound and her bi-lingual skills came in handy as the session quickly moved from English to Spanish.
