'READING RAINBOW' WORK NETS HORELICK EMMY NOMINATION

Horelick says the series challenged him with creating tracks across multiple genres throughout the 2006 season, ranging from world music to jazz to electronica.

"Week to week, we're constantly exploring different musical concepts, cultures and geographical locations," he notes. "It's always challenging to go straight from the likes of American folk music to African tribal rhythms, and it's always extremely rewarding."

Hoerlick is the writer of the theme song for Reading Rainbow and the Emmy nomination is his second to date. He's left a sonic imprint on 165 episodes of the program, whose singular goal is to inspire kids to read.

The 34th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards will be broadcast live on Friday, June 15, on CBS.
