ULTRA-SOUND MIXES 'EQUESTRIAN STAR'

Production took place at Dover's Florida ranch and several mics were used to capture audio. According to Ultra-Sound re-recording mixer, Jennifer Arrowood, the job involved serious time restrictions, allowing only one day to clean up and mix each episode.

"Making the dialogue intelligible was my first priority," she notes.  The Waves Restoration Bundle and C4 Multiband Processor were used to help reduce extraneous noises on the dialogue tracks and the Focusrite d2 Equalizer was employed to smooth out transitions between different mics, as well as to reach for some main dialogue lines delivered off mic.

"Once the dialogue was in a good place, I added the music and FX for the final mix to picture," says Arrowood, "Having a team to handle the peripherals allowed me to focus on the mix. Even on a really tight deadline we still managed to get the show out on time. It was certainly a team effort."
