AES ANNOUNCES KEYNOTE SPEAKER FOR OCTOBER SHOW

Stone and partner Gary Kellgren opened the Record Plant in 1968, basing the facility on the concept of providing a non-traditional environment that would inspire creativity. His career spans four decades in the pro audio arena, including 30 years as an AES member.

Stone is a co-founder, past president and chairman of the Society of Professional Audio Recording Studios (SPARS) and a co-founder of the Music Producers Guild of the Americas, now known as The Producers and Engineers Wing of NARAS. He has also maintained a high profile as a recording industry ombudsman, and is currently active as an educator and a consultant for online music entrepreneurship at Berkleemusic.com. Based in LA, Stone travels widely in his role as CEO of the World Studio Group. Additionally, he is a 30-year member of the AES.

His keynote at the 125th Convention's opening ceremonies on Thursday, October 2nd, will follow the theme, "The Artist Owns The Industry." He will explore what it takes to succeed in today's environment in which artists with limited capital create music in home studios, far removed from million dollar showplace facilities and the guidance of veteran producers and engineers. He will also explore how traditional engineers can remain relevant and play a meaningful role in the industry as it evolves.
