ALLIED'S 'STEREO SOLUTION' TARGETS INDIE FILMMAKERS

"Filmmakers don't need to have a sale to have a great sounding movie," says Woodhall. "Providing indie filmmakers with reasonably-priced, high-quality sound design, Foley, ADR, music editing and mixing, gives them everything they need to move forward. By building this new workflow model, we're saving filmmakers time and money, as well as giving them a significant competitive advantage."

First time feature director Nathan Scoggins took this approach for his film The Least of These. The studio provided sound design, Foley, ADR, music editing and mixing, and then recommended joining forces with a cross-town competitor, Hollywood's NovaStar Digital Sound Services, to create the final 5.1 Dolby surround printmaster.

The prep work and mixing for Scoggins' film took about five weeks to complete at Allied before heading to the team at Novastar in Hollywood for another three days. The completed film, starring Isaiah Washington and Robert Loggia, will be in theaters this Fall.

Woodhall opened the multi-room edit and mix facility in Santa Monica last year, relying on the Digidesign ProTools|HD Accel platform and the Control|24 console for mixing.
