AVID RELEASES UNITY ISIS 2.0

Avid Unity ISIS is a blade-based storage subsystem that features intelligent dual drive storage elements, integrated Ethernet switching and redundant power and cooling. Unlike common storage area networks (SANs), the self-balancing Avid Unity ISIS architecture distributes data and metadata so that each intelligent storage element can make instant decisions that collectively optimize the performance, capacity and health of the entire system. The system also automatically adapts to component failures and replacements without delay, and provides uninterrupted availability and performance.

The ISIS engine consists of 16 storage blades, each with a capacity of 2TBs, and two switch blades. In V.2.0, the solution's integrated switches have been improved in terms of internal bandwidth, and can deliver up to 32 uncompressed streams of 10-bit HD, or to 150 dual stream 150mb clients.

Users can download the 2.0 software, and for hardware upgrades, Avid Professional Services is making three options available. They include: adding blades to open slots on an existing engine, offering new engines for sale, or renting engines so studios can migrate to the new hardware.
