EDIT FEST SLATED FOR AUGUST

On Saturday morning, editors from some of television’s top shows will be on-hand to discuss their work. The “Prime Cuts” presentation by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and ACE will take place between 10am and 12pm at the Egyptian Theatre.

Later that day, at Universal Studios, three additional sessions will take place. The “Editors of Summer Blockbusters” session will look at the challenges of creating some of the year’s biggest films. The “Animation Editing” panel will present the inside story from top animation editors, who will discuss their work, from storyboard stage to completion. And the “Cutting for Comedy” session will look at what it takes to make a project “funny.”

Confirmed speakers will include Dan Lebental (Iron Man
), Michael Tronick (Hairspray, Mr. and Mrs. Smith
), Paul Rubell (Hancock, Transformers, Collateral), Craig Alpert (Pineapple Express, Knocked Up
) and Mark Helfrich (X Men 3: The Last Stand, Rush Hour
), among many others.

Pricing is $349 for the event, and ACE is offering discounts to members of MPEG, American Cinematheque and the Hollywood Post Alliance.
