Besides the obvious challenge of replacing people's heads with paintings and sculptures, Ring of Fire was also faced with maintaining the authentic look for each treasure. Creative director/VFX supervisor Jerry Spivack says they used high resolution images from the Getty archives to help pull of the effect.

Each scene was approached individually and required 2D compositing, 3D tracking, modeling, lighting and animation. Actors were shot with portions of practical frames, which had to be extended by the VFX house. Executive producer John Myers says Autodesk Maya was used for 3D, while Adobe After Effects and Autodesk Flame were called on for 2D work. The studio also handled final color correction, working with Flame.

Lost Planet's Patrick Griffin edited the project.
