SUNDANCE: POST LOGIC CONTRIBUTES TO THREE SUBMISSIONS

American Teen, directed and written by Nanette Burstein, intimately captures the lives of four teenagers in one small town in central Indiana through their senior year of high school.  The production team worked out of Post Logic New York, using the facility’s Avid and Unity systems for the offline edit, which involved cutting footage from multiple high definition and standard definition formats. Color correction and final conform were performed at Post Logic Hollywood, where colorist Kris Santa Cruz worked closely with the film’s director and producers.

The Hollywood location also performed a complete 2K DI for Phoebe in Wonderland, director/screenwriter Daniel Barnz’s story about a little girl confounded by her clashes with a seemingly rule-obsessed world. The project was shot on 35mm 3-perf film. Post Logic performed a 2K scan, color correction, final conform and film out, with colorist Doug Delaney working closely with Barnz to create the separate looks called for in the script.

The film takes place in the fall, but was shot during the spring and summer, so a color palette with an autumn feel was created. In contrast, Phoebe’s inner “wonderland” is warm and hyper-real, with super saturated vivid colors.

A third film - The Mysteries of Pittsburgh – required end-to-end creative post services, ranging from on-set effects supervision to final delivery. The feature is based on the novel by Michael Chabon and chronicles the last true summer of Art Bechstein's youth. In addition to on-set effects supervision, Post Logic provided visual effects and DI services. The VFX effects team handled sky replacements for weather continuity, compositing, greenscreen, clean up, 3D camera tracking, rig removal, CG element creation, digital matte painting and other stylistic effects for the film.
