A native Australian, Ferstl moved to Los Angeles in 1994 and has since contributed to commercials, feature films and television projects. Back home, Ferstl served as director of telecine and film services at Digital Pictures in Sydney. He also had similar positions in London and Asia. On the technology front, Ferstl helped da Vinci develop its Resolve nonlinear color corrector.
