GASKET CONTRIBUTES TO SUCCESSFUL MARKETING OF 'FALLOUT 3'

The site has a 1950s look to it, and delivers the videos through a vintage television set. Spots represent key content from the game, which takes place in a wasteland in and around Washington, DC.

Gasket was brought on board by agency AKQA to work on the integrated marketing campaign and initial sales figures reveal much success, with 4.7 million units shipping worldwide in one week, representing retail sales in excess of $300 million.

For the studio, the challenge was to carefully craft material that would reflect the 1950's future-vision aesthetic. To that end, AKQA conducted research and providing Gasket and the other production partners with a detailed style guide that included pacing, line weight and copywriting style.

The studio was responsible for various levels of creative, applying animation and VFX to both vignettes and complete pieces. In addition to complete deliverables, Gasket also supplied AKQA with a collection of assets to be used to integrate the spots into the site, and transition from original site content to in-game footage.

Gasket has hand-drawn pencil and cell animation techniques. The studio also employed Adobe's Photoshop CS3 Extended, Illustrator and After Effects tools, as well as Autodesk Maya.

Visual effects and vintage styling were accomplished through the use of Autodesk Flame.

The Ant Farm served as the production company for the project. Sacred Noise provided music and BrahmstedWhiteNoise handled sound design.
