SORENSON MEDIA OPENS SAN DIEGO HUB, SEES GROWTH

Sorenson Media creates tools for the distribution of high-quality, mass-market video over the Internet. Its Squeeze software is a video compression and encoding application. Its Squish and SquishNet products and services provide users with an embedded Web application and customizable back-end Web site server to publish, organize, view and share video. And the Sorenson Spark Software Developers Kit gives developers the power to add the Sorenson Spark decoder to nearly any digital device and enables playback of high-speed Flash-based video on cell phones and other portable media devices.

Peter Csathy recently joined the company as its CEO and is based in San Diego. He comes to the company with 20 years of experience in the digital media industry and most recently worked with SightSpeed (acquired by Logitech), and Musicmatch (acquired by Yahoo!).

"Expansion of our operations into Southern California will help us tap into a powerful network of people and resources and will also bring us closer to partners and customers," says Csathy. "We already have the industry's top video compression and encoding talent and technology and we intend to leverage that strength and expertise to become a major player in the online video industry."
