History of ILM doc ‘Creating the Impossible’ to air on Starz

SAN FRANCISCO — Starting on November 12 at 9pm EST/PST, Starz will begin airing a documentary on the multiple-Oscar-winning VFX powerhouse Industrial Light & Magic, established by filmmaker George Lucas.Creating the Impossible is narrated by Tom Cruise and directed by Leslie Iwerks.

The doc takes viewers on a journey from when the studio was formed 1975, in order to create the complicated and never-before-seen visual effects shots for a “little” movie called Star Wars, all the way to present day and its digital effects work for films like Harry Potter, Iron Man, Transformers, Avatar and Pirates of the Caribbean, among many others.

The film features interviews with George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, Jon Favreau, Robin Williams and ILM’s top visual effects supervisors and artists.
