NAB: ARRI CAMERA DESIGNED FOR PRORES WORKFLOWS

Alexa can use all 35mm PL mount lenses, as well as Panavision, Canon and Nikon lenses. The camera sensor’s 3.5K pixel count delivers a latitude for HD (1920x1080) and 2K DI workflows.

The camera incorporates a direct-to-edit workflow providing numerous output options, complete metadata and integrated color management. Alexa can capture Apple QuickTime/ProRes files to on-board SxS memory cards. ProRes 422 (HQ) or ProRes 444 images can be loaded directly into Final Cut Pro for editing, color work and finishing. Two HD-SDI connectors supporting 1.5G dual link or two 3G signals can alternatively be used to output 4:2:2 or 4:4:4 uncompressed HD signals in addition to an ArriRaw T-link signal.

Its viewfinder offers a fast image display, high image quality, accurate color reproduction and features inherited from Arri’s optical viewfinders, including overscan. The camera’s three major components are designed to allow for an easy upgrade path.

Alexa is slated for release in June with an estimated price of $60,000.
