NAB: SONY'S VEGAS PRO NLE GETS .PSD SUPPORT

Editors can now import, edit and export CEA-608 captioned data in high definition Sony XDCAM MXF material. The Adobe Photoshop Document support allows users to create animations from a single PSD image. This feature also enables more creative compositing when working with PSD files by providing individual control over the separate file layers.

Improvements have been made to the device explorer in Vegas Pro 9.0d increasing the app’s support for additional cameras and devices, including hard disk and memory recording devices.

And the “timeline burning to DVD,” feature (like the existing “Burn to Blu-ray” process), gives editors a more seamless final output method.

Support has also been added for the PreSonus FaderPort control surface, a touch-sensitive device that can be used for controlling volume and pan parameters, as well as for play, stop, start transport functionality, and managing audio and video markers.

Existing Vegas Pro 9 users can download the update for free. Users of Vegas Pro 8 or earlier can upgrade for $234.95. MSRP for the new release is $699.95.
