PRIME FOCUS EXPANDS STEREO 3D CAPABILITIES
May 13, 2010
At Prime Focus’s Hollywood studio, efforts are being re-focused on delivering Stereo 3D creative services, including 2D-to-3D conversions, and editorial and VFX for entertainment. In support of this effort, Prime Focus is building out 200 new artist seats, and has upgraded much of its pre-existing post infrastructure, including its DI suites, telecine bays, and theatres to be stereo 3D capable, supporting both RealD and Dolby stereo projection. There are also plans to build a 45-seat, stereo-enabled screening room.

Stereoscopic supervisor Jeremy Nicolaides has also joined the Hollywood team. His stereoscopic credits include work on Alice in Wonderland, Arabia 3D, G-Force 3D, Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D, and U2 3D. Prime Focus producer Bridgitte Krupke has been promoted to executive producer at the studio, and Chris Del Conte was recently named senior producer. Both will oversee 2D-to-3D conversion projects.

The company’s London location is also ready for stereoscopic work, having installed a 2D-to-3D conversion pipeline. The location has plans to expand into a new space to accommodate an additional 200 VFX artists.
