SIGGRAPH: NEWTEK SHOWS LIGHTWAVE 10

LightWave 10 offers a highly photoreal realtime version of the company’s VPR (Viewport Preview Renderer) and advanced, realtime CG hardware viewport shading, delivering Anaglyph Stereo, Ambient Occlusion, Transparency, Refractions, and Bloom. The release also offers extensive, new immersive realtime virtual cinematography and game development tools. For production studios and more advanced individuals, this immersive technology includes integrated support for the InterSense VCam, virtual camera system. Support has been added for 3Dconnexion’s complete line of 3D mice.

LightWave 10 will begin shipping in Q4 2010 for $1,495. LightWave V.9 is available for $895 and includes a free upgrade to LightWave 10 and membership in LightWave HardCORE with immediate access to preview builds of LightWave 10. The upgrade from V.9 to V.10 is $495.

The company is also showing the first iterations of its CORE Technology, which is designed to take advantage of today’s super computers and GPUs.
 
Special appearances are scheduled by William Shatner and Dick Van Dyke at the NewTek booth. Shatner is promoting his new social-networking Website (www.myouterspace.com), which is geared toward sci-fi fans, artists, script writers, 3D animators and VFX artists. Van Dyke happens to be a LightWave artist.
