SIGGRAPH: XSENS SHOWS IMPROVEMENTS TO MOCAP SYSTEM

MVN (formerly Moven) is a motion-capture system that can be used indoors or outdoors. It consists of inertial sensors attached to the body by a lycra suit. No cameras are used and only minimal clean-up of captured data is required as there is no occlusion or marker swapping.

MotionGrid enables realtime driftless multi-person recording.  The UWB-based tracking technology complements Xsens’ inertial based motion tracking. By using UWB RF technology there is no need for line of sight or special lighting conditions. The solution essentially adds the equivalent of a local GPS system to Xsens’ MVN full body motion capture system. Large capture volumes of 60 feet by 60 feet can be easily realized using the default nine-reader MotionGrid configuration.
