Chainsaw wins Emmy for Lady Gaga special

HOLLYWOOD — Chainsaw (www.chainsawedit.com) editors Michael Polito, Bill DeRonde and Kevin O’Dea won an Emmy Award for their work on the HBO music special Lady GaGa Presents The Monster Ball Tour: At Madison Square Garden. The award was presented in the “Outstanding Picture Editing For A Special (Single Or Multi-Camera)” category and is shared with editor Katie Hetland.

Lady GaGa Presents The Monster Ball Tour captured performances by the singer, who grew up not far from Madison Square Garden. It was recorded live over two nights using 17 cameras. Creative editorial, color correction and final editorial were all conducted at Chainsaw’s facility in Hollywood. Polito also served as an associate director on the project and assisted in planning the shoot.

The show received a total of six Emmy nominations, including for “direction,” “technical direction,” “lighting” and “outstanding variety, music or comedy special. It was directed by Laurieann Gibson.
