Editor Barry Stilwell to join AICE HOF

NEW YORK — On May 17, AICE (www.aice.org) will induct editor Barry Stilwell into its Hall of Fame. The induction will be a part of the organization’s 10th Anniversary Awards celebration.

Stilwell is a former partner in creative editorial houses Jump and Dennis Hayes & Associates. He is known for his combination of editorial skill and craftsmanship, his storytelling abilities, and his gentlemanly personality.

A North Carolina native, Stilwell joined Dennis Hayes & Associates in 1979, eventually becoming a partner in the company. When the shop closed in 1997, he and fellow DHA editor Michael Saia co-founded Jump. While at Jump, Stilwell took part in the launch of Manic, its visual effects and design boutique.

His work crossed the spectrum of advertising genres and creative approaches, stretching over a 20 period from the late 1980s to his retirement in 2007. His resume included work on the visual effects-heavy Diet Coke Dance spot, in which Paula Abdul dances with Gene Kelly and Groucho Marx; the Fallon Kitty Hawk spot for United Airlines that recreates the first flight of the Wright Brothers; and the music video-inspired Pepsi Irresistible spot starring the late Robert Palmer.

The event will take place at 583 Park Ave, and will include cocktails, the awards presentation and a banquet.
