IBC: Atto shows Thunderbolt products
September 9, 2011

AMSTERDAM — Atto Technology (www.attotech.com) , which provides storage connectivity and infrastructure solutions, is showing products incorporating Intel’s Thunderbolt technology at the IBC show.

Typical, eSATA, USB 2.0 and FireWire interface performance has maxed out at approximately 200 MB/s. By combining Atto’s innovation with Thunderbolt technology, devices can achieve performance levels up to 1,000 MB/s of bandwidth. This type of performance, until now, had been out of reach for laptops and those looking to edit multiple streams of uncompressed HD video.

The company’s FastStream 3800 series RAID storage controllers provide Thunderbolt technology to SAS/SATA HHD or SSD drives and are suited for embedding into four- to eight-drive enclosures.

Atto‘s ThunderBridge 1800 series of Thunderbolt products use the company’s intelligent Bridging Architecture to enable basic, cost sensitive plug-and-play connectivity products with low overhead to SAS/SATA HHD, SSD or tape drives. When embedded in 1-, 2- or 4-drive enclosures, the ThunderBridge enables high-speed connectivity to these devices without the need for user intervention.
