Luma Pictures moves into larger space
December 9, 2011

SANTA MONICA — Visual effects house Luma Pictures (www.lumapictures.com) has completed a move into a larger facility. The new 16,000-square-foot space allows the company to expand both its workload and service offerings.

Luma specializes in visual effects for films, but the studio is also getting more involved in the commercial world. The Santa Monica location will aid in drawing that form of work. The new facility provides the company with room for up to 100 artists. It also includes a plush screening room with an NEC 1200 C 2K stereo projector and a motion capture stage.

“This has been a long-anticipated move and one that gives us more flexibility in how we work with high-profile, resource intensive projects,” explains executive VFX supervisor, Payam Shohadai. “The new office provides our hardworking staff with an environment that is conducive to artistic inspiration and enables Luma to scale with our client’s needs and take on even higher caliber project work.”
