Nylon Studios scores 'The Lost Thing'
March 2, 2011

HOLLYWOOD — The Lost Thing ( www.thelostthing.com) was awarded the Oscar in the Best Animated Short Film category.

The 15-minute animated short about a boy who finds an unusual creature on a beach and tries to find a home for it, features original music composed by Nylon Studios’ Michael Yezerski.

The film is based on a book of the same name by Australian author/illustrator Shaun Tan. It was directed by Shaun Tan and Andrew Ruhemann, and was produced by Sophie Byrne.

Nylon Studios has boutique studios in New York and Sydney, Australia. According to Yezerski, the film needed to tell an emotional story, but also evoke the strange world of the Lost Thing. “In collaboration with Shaun and Andrew, I developed a non-traditional musical landscape for the score that would be both heartwarming and yet somehow a little unfamiliar, which reflects the themes of the film.”
