Pixomondo purchases 500 Deadline licenses
April 4, 2011

LOS ANGELES — Visual effects company Pixomondo (www.pixomondo.com) has standardized on Thinkbox Software’s Deadline network rendering solution. The studio will used Deadline across its facilities in Los Angeles, Burbank, London, Berlin, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Beijing, Shanghai, Munich and Toronto.

Deadline ( www.thinkboxsoftware.com) offers a range of management options for renderfarms and the flexibility to run the software on different platforms and with different rendering packages. Pixomondo purchased 500 licenses, which it will use on Windows, Mac OSX and Linux-based workstations.

Felix Fissel, head of IT at the Los Angeles studio says Deadline allows Pixomondo to control and manage the company’s global renderfarm, which spans 10 facilities on three continents. “If one of Pixomondo's facilities in China has a huge project to render, they can parse it out to another one of our locations that may not be so busy,” he explains. “This feature has turned out to be an incredible time saver."

Pixomondo is currently in production on the stereoscopic 3D featureThe Invention of Hugo Cabret and Fast and Furious 5. The studio recently delivered visual effects for Percy Jackson The Lightning Thief, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Ninja Assassin and Sucker Punch.
