Unit moves into new Soho space
March 24, 2011

LONDON — Unit (www.unit.tv) has moved into a new 9,400 square- foot facility at Soho’s 50 Great Marlborough Street, doubling capacity from its former Carlisle Street location. The new facility boasts a significantly larger VFX studio, 19 suites and wide-spread technology upgrades.

As part of the move, Unit has launched three specialty sub-brands: The Cut, The Finish and The Mix. The studio can provide end-to-end offline editing, finishing and audio services under one roof.

The Finish brand features a 28-bay VFX studio equipped with Nuke, Maya, After Effects and Cinema 4D. The brand also offers reversioning via Final Cut Pro, three Flame/Smoke finishing suites and a Filmlight Baselight for grading.

The Cut has 12 new Final Cut Pro edit suites. And The Mix is based around three new White Mark-designed Avid Pro Tools suites.

The company is also going through a significant recruitment drive to staff the new facility. Dan Love, formerly head of production at Golden Square, will join Unit in April. Unit will be making further personnel announcements over the coming months.
