VES Production Summit set for Oct. 1

LOS ANGELES — The Visual Effects Society (VES) will hold its third annual Production Summit on October 1, bringing together executives, creatives, technologists and visionaries to discuss the impact of globalization and the opportunities and challenges it presents the entertainment industry.

Production Summit 2011 – Trending the Global Marketplace: You Are Here (www.visualeffectssociety.com) will be held at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills. Bob Pisano, president and COO of the Motion Picture Association of America will present the keynote. Presentations will also be made by Autodesk fellow Tom Wujec and entertainment industry analysts Janey Montgomery Scott and Tony Wible.

Dozens of panelists and roundtable moderators have already been confirmed, including representatives from Sony Pictures Imageworks, The Walt Disney Studios, Digital Artists Agency, Warner Bros., Rainmaker Entertainment ,Twentieth Century Fox Studios, Method Studios, Reliance Media Works, Pixomondo and The California Film Commission.

The session titled “Studios' POV: Adapting to Innovation in a 24 Hour World” will look at what studios need to know in order to keep up with the latest technology. The “Success Around the Globe” panel will take a look at successful visual effects business models and crossover models from around the globe.

To jump start the morning of the Summit, the event is introducing breakfast roundtable discussions for attendees who want to discuss and share information on a particular subject with their fellow attendees. Each table will have a moderator who is an expert in their topic.
