Aardman's Wallace & Gromit pitch for Google
December 19, 2012
BRISTOL, UK — Aardman Animations (www.aardman.com) created a new spot for Google featuring the studio’s familiar Wallace and Gromit characters. The commercial highlights Google+ Hangout, which allows friends and family all over the world to come together online for a video chat experience. A Google+ Hangout supports up to 10 people at the same time.

Appearing in the spot are a range of Aardman characters, including Trixie and Captain Cuddlepuss from Creature Comforts, Shaun the Sheep and Ginger from Chicken Run. In total, Aardman created more than 5,500 frames of animation for the project, which includes an invitation animation as well as the commercial. Consumers can go online to create a personalized Wallace and Gromit video invitation that can be sent to their family and friends (http://familyhangouts.withgoogle.com)

The studio used Stopmotion Pro for animation, The Foundry’s Nuke for compositing and effects, and Final Cut pro for editorial. Agency Adam and Eve DDB conceived the campaign. The Mill also contributed to it. Final sound was handled by The Factory.
