German director/cinematographer recognized for 'Great Expectations'

LOS ANGELES — German director/cinematographer Florian Hoffmeister received an Emmy nomination in the “Outstanding Cinematography For A Miniseries Or Movie” category for his work on Masterpiece’s Great Expectations (Part 2). The two-part PBS/BBC co-production, starring Gillian Anderson, debuted in the US in April. Hoffmeister won a BAFTA for his photography & lighting work on the project, and Great Expectations has garnered four additional Emmy nominations.

Hoffmeister is known for his artistic work in commercials and music videos. He shot two shorts for writer/director Tony Grisoni, with whom he had collaborated on Kingsland – The Dreamer, which garnered a BAFTA nomination. In 2010, he shot The Deep Blue Sea starring Rachel Weisz and directed by Terence Davies before joining the Great Expectations team.

He is represented as a commercial director by Los Angeles production studio Picrow (www.picrow.com).
