Legend3D provides conversion services for 2 VFX nominees
February 6, 2012
SAN DIEGO — Legend3D (www.Legend3D.com) served as the primary 2D to 3D conversion partner for two films that are nominated in the honored Best Visual Effects category for the 2012 Academy Awards.

The studio was selected as the sole conversion partner to for the vintage scenes featured in Martin Scorsese's stereoscopic debut film, Hugo. Scorsese said it was crucial to include the actual footage from Georges Melies' A Trip to the Moon and The Merry Frolics of Satan in the film. “We relied on Legend3D's conversion expertise to bring these beautiful images to life in 3D," notes the director.

Legend3D was also tasked with working with Michael Bay to use its conversion technology to enhance the storytelling in more than 75 minutes of live-action featured in Transformers: Dark of the Moon. The converted material allowed Bay to seamlessly intercut captured and 3D CGI material throughout the film.

The 84th Academy Awards will be presented on February 26.
