Nirvanix appoints chief strategy officer
July 23, 2012
SAN DIEGO — Nirvanix (www.nirvanix.com) has added to its executive management team with the recent appointment of Dru Borden, who will serve as chief strategy officer. He joins Nirvanix after successful careers at CBS and NBCUniversal, where he led core engineering teams that created and implemented software architectures for enterprise applications and media platforms.

Nirvanix is a provider of enterprise-class cloud storage services designed specifically for customers with expectations of extreme security, reliability and redundancy. In his new role, Borden will focus on advancing the company's technologies for large unstructured content files prevalent in the media & entertainment industry. He will also focus on next generation horizontal business solutions for backup, archival and large-scale content collaboration.

"As the media and entertainment sector transitions to an all-digital workflow, its challenges are further amplified due to the sheer size of HD content files and the need for large-scale content collaboration across multiple geo locations," notes Borden. "Cloud storage is rapidly gaining traction as a cost-effective component and business enabler in modern post-production workflows and its adoption is spreading to all industries dealing with the rise of unstructured data. I have experienced the pains of dealing with storage systems that reach their end of life (EOL) and the constant migration of data from one hardware platform to another — and it's clear that the shift to cloud is inevitable across all vertical markets."
